Five minutes into the park we saw two coyotes
El Capitan
There is a big problem with people not storing their food correctly in Yosemite. Savy black bears can break into cars to access food. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-xa0JLPgiPA like so. Also check out this entertaining Attenborough clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiFSSnFA13Y
Camping in the snow at Camp 4 near the base of El Capitan. We woke up to a white Yosemite.
The snow really added something to the scenery. This is the Merced River in the Yosemite Valley.
Nice side parting. As the snow melted and fell off the trees it was like being pelted with snowballs.
Looking along Yosemite valley from Glacier point trail
Half Dome was amazing to look at, so much so that you may get bored of the following pictures...........
On the way up to Glacier Point
Following in a bears footsteps
Black bear prints
Half Dome
Upper Yosemite Falls
Setting off on Eagle Peak trail.
Upper Yosemite falls
Not sure what made this trail but its tail must have been very cold
Even though the trail was completely hidden by snow we could see the occasional marker of a cut tree
The green of the tree stood out well against the snow
Half dome
Eagle Point, a welcome sight after hours walking in the snow. We were the first people along the trail and kept losing the way in the snow. A couple of guys had been following our footprints and we all ended up temporarily lost at one point. It turned out they were friends of a famous American climber Alex Honnold who was attempting a speed climbing record of El Capitan and they were going to meet him at the top. He climbs without ropes! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzA5S-5w13M
On the rocks at eagle peak
Half dome again
Fi plays the natural xylophone
Yosemite Falls on left and Half dome in the middle
The campsite was pretty in the snow but quite cold and wet
Sierra (the co-pilot) a very cute dog at the campsite who loved the snow. Craig is a really cool guy we met at the campsite and is travelling with her in this van. They had met Alex Honnold the climber when he was deciding to call off the speed record attempt while we were lost on the trail with his friends at the top, apparently he was very nice.
My attempt at free-soloing El Cap, only another few thousand feet to go.
Ralph free solos El Cap

A tribute to Ansel adams
