Up, up and away

Tired of patiently watching wildlife we decided to scare it off by travelling at high speed on a zipline. We made sure that we chose one not in primary forest (they have actually built some there). We were surprised about how minimal the footprint of the development was and most travelled across the valley way above the canopy. I can't imagine the loud noise is good for wildlife, probably comparable to a road - on one hand at least it is quiet at night, on the other it is completely unnecessary. Anyway it was fun! (I am sure that is the justification bear hunters give!)

The welcoming signs at the start of the Extremo canopy zipline in Monteverde! Needless to say Fiona tied her hair up.

More cheese Gromit - it is impossible not to look a bit stupid in the gear. Ralph was somewhat alarmed to find he had a whole in his glove when he was told the gloves were his only brakes.

Fi was really scared but looking surprisingly happy here, there was no time for fear, we were whizzed round so fast so that we'd already done three ziplines before we realised what was going on. They made the guides do 3 tours a day which meant they were a bit too efficient!

Rappelling ........or being lowered down a tree on a rope

Being caught by a series of giant black puddings at the end of the tarzan swing

Superman, the 1km zipline across a valley with great views if you dare look, I didn't dare look in case I started spinning round or fell out of my harness.  Had I looked I would have seen the Pacific off in the distance and people doing a bungee jump from a parallel zipline.

The end of the Superman zipline was slightly undignified.
